Pontchartrain Beach Riprap Groin

Black and white photo of sand beach looking out towards the water where a man with a shovel stands on a rocky finger of land that extends out into the water.

Two 500-foot riprap groins, or wave breaks, built by the WPA extend out into the Lake on either side of the sand beach to prevent wave wash. These structures are still in use today.
