This is one of Mugnier's many shots of exteriors around New Orleans. Mugnier was a Swiss-born watchmaker for many years in New Orleans before becoming a photographer. The U.S. Mint proved not only to be a subject of his work but also a place he visited frequently after taking a break from professional photography. In the late 1880s, he worked as an assayer's clerk at the U.S. Mint.
